ABOUT US

Who we are

Otter Point, Shirley and Jordan River are three separate rural communities west of Sooke, B.C. (formally recognized by the Capital Regional District in 1995).

Where we areThe CRD in context

Otter Point stretches along Otter Point Road, Kemp Lake Road and along West Coast Road from Sooke to Muir Creek (near Sheringham Point).

Shirley continues along West Coast Road from Muir Creek to Jordan River. Shirley includes Point no Point and French Beach Provincial Park.

Jordan River continues from Shirley along West Coast Road, and past the River Jordan, to Second Creek (just east of China Beach).

Why we live here

Most of the approximately 3,000 (CRD's About JdFEA)) residents of Otter Point, Shirley and Jordan River are property owners who choose to live in this rural area for many reasons: affordable housing; larger properties; lower taxes; access to nearby forests, beaches and ocean; privacy; space to operate a home-based business and more.

Beaches

We have an extensive coastline with several beaches ... some beaches are easy to access, others are surrounded by rugged terrain. The Foreshore Access Report (10 MB) identifies and describes our beaches.
