Cell phones, briefly a luxury, are now considered by many to be essential. With cell phones come antenna systems, better known as cell towers. In January 2019 the Capital Regional District (CRD) Board adopted a policy establishing procedures for antenna system applications. The CRD policy includes a requirement that there be notice of the application prior to its consideration by the Juan de Fuca Land Use Committee.
Freedom Mobile has applied to build a 45m tower at 3727 Otter Point Road, behind the Fire Station. Application LP000019 was mailed to property owners and residents within 500 meters of the proposed tower. Notice of the application was also posted in the Sooke News Mirror.
If you live in the area under consideration and did not receive notice of this application, OPSRRA encourages you to take a look at the application. Feedback must be received by October 9, 2020.
